ULTIMATE GOAL: Provide a mostly off-road cycle path eventually from Bodffordd to Newborough, some eight miles.
BACKGROUND: The provision of a much needed leisure-time cycling facility which is safe and therefore family-orientated.
CHALLENGE: The sideways displacement of a substantial overflow drainage ditch to allow the new cycle path to be sited where the river bed used to be - taking into consideration ecological and wildlife habitats.
DESCRIPTION OF OPERATION: Involves bulk excavation techniques and double-handling of very soft unstable material using the state-of-the-art large capacity pumping equipment and plant machinery.
STAGE 1: SITE BEFORE WORK COMMENCES
STAGE 2: EVACUATION OF NEW RIVER CHANNEL
STAGE 3: CONSTRUCTION OF NEW CYCLE TRACK
